  1. Fellowship of the Ring by JRR Tolkein (2nd reading? 3rd?)
  2. Midnight's Children by Salman Rushdie (bookclub)
  3. Breakfast at Tiffany's by Truman Capote (bookclub)
  4. The Two Towers by JRR Tolkein (2nd reading I think)
  5. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams (bookclub)
  6. In a Summer Season by Elizabeth Taylor (the writer not the actress)
  7. Chronicle of a Death Foretold by Gabriel Garcia Marquez (bookclub)
  8. The Polysyllabic Spree by Nick Hornby
  9. Food Matters by Mark Bittman
  10. Palestine Peace not Apartheid by Jimmy Carter (bookclub)
  11. What is the What? by Dave Eggers
  12. Julie & Julia by Julie Powell (bookclub)
  13. My Life in France by Julia Child
  14. Suite Francais by Irene Nemirovsky (bookclub) (2nd reading)
  15. The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Stewart (bookclub)
  16. The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barberry (bookclub)
  17. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak (bookclub)
  18. The Twenty-Seventh City by Jonathan Franzen
Of which I highly recommend:
  1. The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barberry - best book I read this year!
  2. My Life in France by Julia Child - Julia is so inspiring!
  3. Suite Francais by Irene Nemirovsky - Maybe on my list of favorite books.
  4. In a Summer Season by Elizabeth Taylor - Both simple and devastating.
  5. The Polysyllabic Spree by Nick Hornby - A well-written book about books and writing.
  6. Midnight's Children by Salman Rushdie - This is tough to get through, but worth it.

I made a resolution to read more books in 2009, and your list prompted me to discover that I read 20! I'm proud of myself. Now I'll use your suggestions to up that number in 2010. Thanks!
