The Eight Official Tennessee State Songs

That's right, eight. Per the official Tennessee website.
  1. My Homeland Tennessee, 1925
  2. When It's Iris Time in Tennessee, 1935 - sung from the point of view of someone who doesn't actually live in Tennessee
  3. My Tennessee, 1955 - same scenario as #2
  4. Tennessee Waltz, 1965 - about a guy who lost his girl in Tennessee. Now you're talking. This is the best one.
  5. Rocky Top, 1982 - ties for best! Maybe not the best representation of Tennessee, or maybe the perfect representation of it.
  6. Tennessee, 1992
  7. The Pride of Tennessee, 1996 - only one to mention Native Americans
  8. A Tennessee Bicentennial Rap: 1796 - 1996. I'd call it a rhyme before I called it a rap.

Johnny Cash's "Hey Porter" really ought to be on that list.

Love the Tennessee Waltz!

"I was dancing with my darling to the Tennessee Waltz when an old friend I happened to see.
I introduced her to my loved one and while they were dancing my friend stole my sweetheart from me."
