25 Things for 10 Years

Last week was my 10th anniversary at the UrbanArt Commission. Here are just a few things I've done in the 10 years I've been there:
  1. Walked across the trestle over Cooper Street that Jill Turman's art is on now.
  2. Drove Vito Acconci to the airport.
  3. Had dinner with Dennis Oppenheim.
  4. Managed around 50 completed projects.
  5. Curated about 20 shows for the County Mayor's office, leading to the purchase of artwork by at least 20 artists.
  6. Moved our office 5 times.
  7. Set up a computer network for our office just by clicking around until it worked.
  8. Presented at City Council committee meetings at least 4 times.
  9. Wrote at least a dozen grants.
  10. Traveled to New York, Seattle, DC, Nashville, Clarksville, Palm Beach, Las Vegas and Philadelphia for conferences and such.
  11. Had a meeting about a pig.
  12. Scraped grout.
  13. Emptied wet stuff out of an office that had been drenched with water used to put out a fire in the office above.
  14. Toured the abandoned police headquarters on Adams.
  15. Berated by a woman with lipstick on her teeth.
  16. Visited a lot of studios!
  17. Visited a farm in Frayser.
  18. Climbed scaffolding.
  19. Attended a very fancy party.
  20. Spoke on the radio a couple of times.
  21. Interviewed maybe 100 artists?
  22. Planned too many events to count.
  23. Employed about 15 interns.
  24. Made some good friends.
  25. Learned A LOT.

number eleven, is that like my friend william, who in college when he had to go the the bathroom he would say "i've got to go talk to a man about a horse" is it like that?
or did you really "have a meeting about a pig?"

either way that's a lot of stuff.

Congrats on 10 years! The UAC would not be what it is without you and all of the stuff you to to keep the machine running. Keep it up sister.

You should reward yourself by playing a nice game of Snood during the next Board meeting, perhaps making a prank call to The Schnadel and you should play The Gambler or Lucille really loud in the office and sing along for everyone!

I thought the same thing as Dwayne ... I can't believe there was only one fancy party!

Unless by fancy you mean everyone borrowed their jewels from Harry Winston and flew in on their private jets.
