Hurricane Terminology

More lingo we've learned about hurricanes and hurricane coverage, to add to the ones we learned from my sister:

  1. After a hurricane, city officials like to "take a drive-by" to assess damage.
  2. "Overtop" is apparently an actual word.
  3. "Contraflow" - not sure what that means, but we think it's related to traffic.
  4. "eye-wall"
  5. "dirty side"
  6. "wind event"
  7. "rain event"
  8. "flooding event"
  9. Hurricanes involve "spurts of water."
  10. They also may involve "projectiles."
  11. "cone of uncertainty" (that one may be my favorite new phrase!)

It looks like we are in the Cone of Uncertainty again.
