Memphis Restaurants That I Miss

1. Los Compadres was once a Cuban restaurant. I don't know the name of it because it was the only Cuban restaurant and therefore we just called it "The Cuban Restaurant." I miss it more than I can convey.

2. Peking Chinese Restaurant that was once in the back of Poplar Plaza.

3. Lam Hung on Madison - it is probably still a Chinese/Vietnamese place, but it's not the same.

4. Grisanti's on Airways - I think it was the original one.

5. Mojo's on Highland - had THE BEST baba ganoush.

6. Audubon Cafe on Park

7. Buntyn when it was on Southern

8. Bon-Ton

9. Cafe Francisco

10. The Hungry Fisherman

Cafe Fransisco was a really great environment. I thought it was a little pricey, but it was definitely a great place to read the paper or get some work done.

Cafe Francisco had a sandwich with prosciutto on it. I think that's what I miss most.

I really loved that Cuban place too. The pork plate with the plantains and black beans was to die for.

The Cuban restaurant (I forget the name too) was actually its second restaurant. The original is on Lamar, in a strip mall, south of Winchester (on the south side of Lamar), near a Mexican bakery/ panaderia. Don't know if they are still there though, but it might be worth the search for you.
